Grid connection of renewable energy projects as a key project stage
During Spreewindrunde 2026, Jakub discussed the practical side of the grid connection process for renewable energy installations. The discussion focused on the key challenges currently faced by investors: limited grid capacity, the costs of entering the grid connection procedure, and strict deadlines, where failure to comply may lead to the loss of grid connection conditions or the expiry of the grid connection agreement.
Particular attention was paid to two “ticking clocks”: the validity of the grid connection conditions, which as a rule is one year from their delivery, and the deadline for obtaining a final building permit after signing the grid connection agreement. In the case of wind farms, this deadline is usually 36 months. For this reason, already at the site selection stage it is necessary to analyse in parallel the project parameters, available grid capacity, grid development plans and the risk of refusal to issue grid connection conditions.
New grid connection models, including flexible and configurable agreements, were also an important part of the discussions. They may increase the chances of project implementation in conditions of limited grid capacity, but they require a careful assessment of the impact of operational limitations on the financial model, bank financing and future project revenues.
Windenergietage 2026 in Linstow
Together with the organisers, we also confirmed our participation in Windenergietage 2026, which will take place on 10–12 November 2026 in Linstow. We already warmly invite you to join the thematic roundtable that we will organise on 11 November 2026. We will discuss the implementation of wind energy investments in Poland from the perspective of a foreign investor.
