Dr. Małgorzata Stępień

Małgorzata Stępień, Ph.D., is an Attorney-at-Law (PL) and Tax Advisor (PL). She supports companies with legal and tax decisions in Poland and in cross-border settings, especially when timelines are tight and clarity matters. She built her entire career in international advisory firms, which shaped a pragmatic way of working with clients across industries and corporate cultures. She advises clients primarily in the renewable energy, manufacturing and industrial sectors.

Her approach is structured and solution-driven: she clarifies the facts, asks the key questions, and turns analysis into steps that can be implemented by management and operational teams. She specialises in Polish and international tax law as well as corporate law, and leads complex projects where technical accuracy, timely delivery and consistent documentation are equally important.

She complements her legal expertise with a strong understanding of business. She completed the Poznań–Atlanta MBA programme at the Poznań University of Economics and Business, delivered in cooperation with Georgia State University in Atlanta. In October 2021, she earned her PhD at the same university; her research focused on how legal services can deliver real added value to B2B clients.

As of 1 January 2026, she became a Partner of the Firm, in recognition of her contribution to business growth, her ownership of quality, and her collaborative, client-oriented style. In client relationships, she builds predictability and trust by setting clear ways of working, staying calm in challenging situations, and consistently delivering outcomes.

Offshore Wind in Poland: VAT Compliance for a Foreign Contractor - Case Study

As Poland’s offshore wind sector moves into the delivery phase, foreign contractors increasingly need to align logistics, contractual milestones and documentation with correct Polish VAT treatment in practice. The case study below highlights the typical risk points—VAT registration, imports, a port-side staging warehouse, supply combined with installation, and local subcontractors—and demonstrates a practical approach to addressing these areas.

Sale of Renewable Energy (RES) Projects in Poland – How Transactions Are Typically Structured

In Poland, RES project sales typically involve transferring a “project package” — land rights, key permits/administrative decisions and development documentation — rather than a finished power plant. Below we explain, in a practical way, how these deals are usually structured and what to focus on to keep the process safe, predictable and efficient.

Effective VAT Compliance for German E-Commerce Companies Relocating Warehouses to Poland

In recent years, an increasing number of German e-commerce companies have decided to relocate their logistics centers to Poland. Lower operating costs, a favourable geographic location, and well-developed warehouse infrastructure make this a natural step in the growth of online retail businesses. However, this change also brings new obligations in terms of VAT compliance—both in Poland and in cross-border relations with Germany.
